Install Cortex on a Windows computer

Setup installs Cortex on the computer it runs on and starts it with Windows. This guide follows Setup page by page.

Step 1: Get ready

CortexSetup installs Cortex directly on the Windows computer it runs on. Setup starts the Cortex server and sets it to start whenever Windows does.

Cortex 1.0.0

In PowerShell, in the folder you downloaded to, run this and compare the hash:

Get-FileHash .\CortexSetup-1.0.0.exe -Algorithm SHA256

You need

  • A 64-bit Windows 10 or 11 computer that will run Cortex, on the same Ethernet network as your drives.
  • An account with administrator rights on that computer. Setup asks Windows for permission.
  • 51.2 MB of free disk space. Setup checks before it installs.
  • A password of at least 8 characters for the Cortex administrator.

Installing on a Moxa or Linux device?

CortexSetup only installs on the Windows computer it runs on. For a Moxa, follow the Linux device guide instead.
